…”Tiln was founded in March 2000 by Marc C. McNulty in Rochester, New York, U.S.A. .tiln began as a location where artists could showcase their work in mp3 form. With no budget to work with, the .tiln server started on a cable modem connection and a PC in Marc’s flat.

In January 2002, Marc determined that he was no longer able to devote time to .tiln, his time consumed by the Earphone label. In order to keep .tiln from disappearing, the website was acquired by AESOVA, who now host and curate the site. In 2003, .tiln continues releasing new music, and runs on a T3 internet connection.

Aesova stopped providing this service somewhere in 2003. In 2005 EARLabs starts restoring the catalogue with the help of Marc McNulty and Carlo Giordani. Some of the artists have contributed as well. Philippe Jelli helped restoring the Kim Cascone release. Will Soderberg added the missing pieces of his release in November 2005. Kengo Miyazaki provided some 75 missing compositions in January 2006.
