Its the turn for the Barcelona based netlabel inoQuo.

Since its beginings in 2005 the netlabel has gone beyond the milestone of 50 releases, supporting in their own words “all innovating and experimental electronic music not limited to the sentence of commercialization”.

Jaume Muntsant a.k.a. Hérmetico, one of the netlabel heads (together with daTO and Sr. Click), has manufactured this 62 miuntes live construction-deconstruction of loops on Ableton, featuring 26 tracks of the most representative netlabel sound.

Based in China, Bypass netlabel is actually one of the most active and prolific netlabels. Around half a hundred releases on genres predominantly IDM or Ambient, come to state the musical aesthetic of the platform and featuring artists from the most diverse countries.

Its curator, Zhang Jian Wen, has colaborated with INQ with this selection of tunes that reflect the main stylistic core and are an appropiate approximation to the work of Bypass.

As an important part of the netlabel activity, The Centrifuge has an intensive focus on events organised in cities such as London, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds, Berlin, etc.

The netlabel started on May ‘08 and has regularly published a release every month with 13 up to date and is primarily focusing on experimental, drone, ambient, shoegaze, folk, etc. with some special emphasis on the melodic content.

For the ocassion, this mix was recorded by the Chicago artist Implex Grace, who has also released on Distance Recordigs the two part LP ‘Through Luminescent Passages I & II’ (here and here. The mix features a single track of every release of the netlabel to give a complete perspective of the work of its artists. We are back in this year with the mesmerizing bunch of tracks from Peppermill netlabel. Its fantastic and cool staff based in the mountains of British Columbia have achieved to put togheter an heterogeneous, diverse, but creative and cohesive number of genres, that i wont be able to tag. Up to 10 releases right now, with some impressive compilations (here and here) and promising upcoming releases.

Thinner, together with his twin imprint Autoplate, has evolved and adapted to the circumstances to keep the coherence and quality its faithful audience deserved. Founded by Thomas Jadelmark (Sweden), Thinner has been releasing electronic music, mostly techno, house, minimalistic dub styles. Nowadays curated by Sebastian Redenz (A&R) and Veer AKA Ole Schulte (Director) and based in Frankfurt but with conections all around the globe the netlabel is going on major changes. After 100+ free releases the platform has arrived to a turning point, and towards the sustainability of what in the Thinnerism blog, Sebastian Redenz calls a “total netlabel”, in the near future Thinner releases would change into digital paid downloads (with some specific free releases).

After this recent announcement, mixed feelings appear, but from here we appeal to mature opinions, and think on artists and their work more than in if changing to a bussines model is ethical or not. Future will tell.

For this episode, Sebastian Redenz has entrusted Gabriel Le Mar to step forward on the stylistic terms of Thinner but without leaving its basis. 9 tracks and 1 hour of (a new) Thinner.

Thats what I personally found when i met the guys who started the Neovinyl project. Raising from Malaga, the sunny south of Spain, under the commitment of working with humilty and toleration to others points of view, Baldo and Carlo have won our hard drives and hearths delivering new sweet sounds.

With the extensive and intensive efforts to have brought a representative sample of the netlabel scene along this year, we must say, we need holidays. And this can be seen as the last episode of the season.

Monographic arrives to its 28th release with the Berlin based Pentagonik netlabel. This couldnt have been possible without the cooperation of its curator, Don Ludwig and Kai, who trusted the recording of the mix to the well-known to the netlabel scene, Cotumo, who has a wide experience spinning the records around some european cities.

The roster of artists on the platform has its quality guaranteed by some names like Le Cantin (Archipel / One Bit Wonder), Ludwig Coenen (Immigrant / Flumo / Highgrade), the novelist and musician Norman Fairbanks (Testtube), Wego (Tropic / Flumo), Francesco Tarallo (Trapez), to name a few…

Pentagonik was founded in early 2005 as a platform for electronic music and events. Thoroughly steeped in the contagious enthusiasm of the thriving Berlin electronic scene, the founding members decided to contribute their part.

The netlabel and events make up the the core of Pentagonik. Musically we focus on various types of contemporary electronic club music. Call it it minimal if you like. We strive to continuously release high-quality electronic music.

As a berlin-based netlabel we work at the interface between virtuality and local rooting in Berlin night-life. Parties are thus an integral part of Pentagonik’s work.

The new and special guest to Monographic is a well known to the 8bit and videogame scene, the second on this genre here after Pterodactyl Squad.

Operating from the south of Italy, Aquietbump, has developed a solid discography predominated by dub sonorities. With up to 15 releases up to date the seal of quality imprinted on all of them is undeniable.

On this episode, Paolo Picone aka Peak, curator of the netlabel and who has also released the fantastic “So quiet EP”, has place the duo Jambassa to turn their digital dubplates and record this superb showcase mix. I admit that last is my case. At an early age i was shocked by the 8-bit chips technology, the cartdridges, the video games of the Nintendo Entertainment System, an with some later ones. Our young minds as kids, were drastically influenced by this new entertainment, on wich we spent hours and hours.

Undivisible from the videogame experience was the soundtrack of them, a unique sound that nowadays has evolutioned into the 8-bit music or chiptune and wich have lots of fans and supporters. Chiptune shares with that the netlabel scene the point that both were very closely related to the MOD/trackers scene.

For the first time on Monographic, and hope not last, we receive an 8-bit specialized netlabel: Pterodactyl Squad, wich has a clearer approach to videogames.

“Based in the UK, Pterodactyl Squad is a netlabel which distributes music inspired by video games.  Releases are split into two categories: original music releases and faux/indie video game soundtracks. 

Maintained by Joe Allen and Ross Murdoch, both artists on the label, Pterodactyl Squad is still fairly young, but has some great releases planned for the near future.

Joe also hosts his own podcast, the Gamewave Podcast, playing music like that released on Pterodactyl Squad.”

After Marian Reinig, co-curator of Headphonica netlabel, sent us the mix and i had chance to listen it, i was totally pleased and knew the great idea was to invite them. The guys behind the netlabel have worked hard looking for talents in order to make a rich roster of artist.

The production quality of the releases (31+ up to date) is undeniable and the variety of styles (idm, breakcore, post-folk, electronic pop, indietronica…) makes Headphonica undoubtfuly a reference for (net)audio lovers.

Were happy for returning to South America, in this oportunity to Medellin (Colombia), where is based Series netlabel, mainly created with the purpose of promotion of colombian artists but with conections all over the continent and far away: Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela…

Together with the publication of physical releases, the most proliphic section comes with the netlabel accumulates 26 releases nowaday. Jose Santamaria, curator of Series, joins our podcast kindly with this superb mix.

…”AudioTong has been started in early 2005 to promote and support experimental music in Krakow, Poland. Untill now we have released more than 40 albums (most of which are free-for-download mp3 releases) and organized similar number of concerts in Krakow and other cities in Poland.

The mix presented here includes some of the finest tracks from our catalogue: it starts with more „pop-like” tracks from Nole Plastique (Tatarstan) and LeeDVD (Poland) than goes into more abstract territories with Polish-Czech collective and brilliant eRikm (performing here is Lause). Some improv and contemporary composition coming later from Martin Archer and Yannis Kyriakides and then getting back to „songs” – especially with Almatinka (by KMTR, a project from Kazakhstan). The final track, „Whistling” comes from our first release and is very different from anything we’ve done later – just wait for the end of the mix and you will see the difference easily.

AudioTong is starting 2008 with new website and an online shop where we’re selling (quite cheaply) CD’s we have released or enjoyed recently. If you’re into experimental music, for sure you must know German krautrock heroes, Faust – check their „Od Serca Do Duszy” live album which is our first CD release – great music, great fun listening to their ideas and skills.

Run by the Moscow based couple made by Ilias Mikanaev and Nikita Golyshev, Musica Excentrica netlabel is focused on releasing “avantgarde post-music in strictly non-entertainment genres (acoustic as well as electronic)”. The artist line-up is long, but i think is important to mention some recognised sound artists like Alva Noto, Kevin Drumm, Kim Cascone, Kenneth Kirschner, Kevin M. Krebs, Polina Voronova, etc…

Along with the management of the netlabel and artists, ME is organising Add Noise Sessions to produce modern cutting-edge audio and visual events. Monographic’s new guest, Stadtgruen, has focused on the fundamental anthitesis of stadt (culture) and gruen (nature) and the dialogue between them, through the investigation of new ways of expresing art helped by new technical possibilities.

What is characteristic and defining of this netlabel is its diferenced series: Stadt & Gruen, the first featuring “deepest ambient, contemporary grooves” and “twisted techno, impressions from Motor City” for the second. As a superficial aproximation can be resumed in styles like minimal dub, minimal techno and clicks&cuts.

The mix is signed by Renniac, aka René Finken (Germany), curator of Stadtgruen and contains an aproximate 50% Stadt and 50% Gruen. Along with the task of mantaining the netlabel and his English, German and Philosophy studies, has produced tracks for Stadtgruen, Aerotone and Shitkatapult.

…”Next to producing distinct and adventurous techno music, Mikel Mendia is also the man behind the INQ Mag, an online publication dedicated to the netaudio world. As of now, it not only serves as an information source on the latest releases and news from the scene, but also acts as a place for concentrated listening. Mendia has joined forces with the Kahvi Collective and asked DJ Polaski to remix a selection of the Collective’s tunes into a coherent, smoothly flowing mix entitled “monographic #1”. Polaski has certainly spent the time necessary to browse the vastKahvi archive (which totals a staggering 800 track) well. His mix begins infinitely relaxed and anthemic, with lots of intricate hiphop beats, snippeted loops, sacral chords and ambient spaces, then enters an industrial wasteland filled with growling basses and solitary piano splinters, before returning to more consiliatory sounds again. The emotional span of “Monographic” is remarkable, even including the ecstatic howls of electric guitars and the hushed discreetness of field recordings. A project to be savoured, which will hopefully see a follow-up soon – preferably one which includes new material by Mr. Mendia himself.”…
